Division of Plant Physiology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi in Collaboration with University of Colorado Boulder, USA organized World Bank Funded NAHEP-CAAST workshop on “Next Generation Sequencing and Computational Biology for Agriculture” (4-6 March, 2020) at Centre for Agricultural Bioinformatics, ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi. The workshop was inaugurated on 4th March, 2020 in the gracious presence of Hounrable Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary DARE & DG, ICAR; Dr. T.R. Sharma, DDG (CS); Dr. Ravinder Singh, Colorado University ; Dr. R.C. Agrawal, DDG (Edu); Dr. A.K. Singh, Director, IARI ; Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal, Dean, IARI ; Dr C. Viswanathan, Head Division of Plant Physiology and PI NAHEP along with NAHEP team members and participants of workshop.
In this workshop we had faculty from University of Colorado Boulder, USA Dr. Ravinder Singh, Dr. Kenneth Krauter and Dr. Robin Dowell. Dr. Ravinder Singh taught about Gene structure, function and regulation; the era of omics and system biology. He has also taken practical on short read sequencing analysis; phylogenetic analysis using “Galaxy” a free online tool for computational biology. Dr. Robin Dowell covered introduction of next generation sequencing and RNA-seq; computational biology and bioinformatics and Dr. Kenneth Krauter dealt with gene mapping. The workshop was successful in all terms and it was ended with valedictory session on 6th March, 2020 where Dr. A.K. Singh, Director, IARI; Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal, Dean, IARI felicitated and honored Dr. Ravinder Singh; Dr. Kenneth Krauter and Dr. Robin Dowell and workshop completion certificates were distributed to students.
