NAHEP-CAAST training programme on “High Dimensional Genome data Analysis by R and Open Source Tools” was organized during November 01-11, 2019, at Centre for Agricultural Bioinformatics (CABin), ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi. The training was attended by 26 students, belonging to 16 different states of India, from 19 universities and 1 Ph.D. (Plant Physiology) student of ICAR-IARI from Vietnam.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and DG-ICAR graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest. This function was also graced by Dr. R. C. Agrawal, National Director, NAHEP & DDG (Agricultural Education)/Act. Division of Education, ICAR, Dr. A. K. Singh, Division of Agricultural Extension, DDG (Agricultural Extension), & Director, ICAR- IARI.
A total of 31 lectures were delivered by eminent resource persons from IARI, IASRI and other external resource persons from the well-known institutes such as ISI, Kolkata, ICGEB, New Delhi and NIBMG, Kolkata. The course has been structured as a series of modules with the theory and practical lectures including the demonstration of R software and open source tools. The course content was designed with theory & practicals on the topics such as Basics of R, Univariate data analysis, Descriptive statistics, Linear Models, Testing of hypothesis, design of experiments, GXE, AMOVA,. Cluster Analysis, Principal Component Analysis, Discriminant Analysis, Application of Supervised Machine Learning techniques like ANN, SVM, and Random Forest for genomic data analysis, Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS), Genomic Selection (GS), Transcriptomics, Genome assembly and annotation, R for Biomolecular Sequence Data, Biomolecular Sequence Encoding, Genome editing, Protein Structure Prediction and SNP Analysis etc.
Visit to different facilities, viz., National Agricultural Science Museum, NASC, New Delhi, Advanced Super-computing Hub for OMICS Knowledge in Agriculture (ASHOKA), ICAR- IASRI and Nanaji Deshmukh Plant Phenomics Centre, ICAR-IARI was also organized for the trainees.
Dr. K. M. Manjaiah, Nodal Officer, NAHEP-CAAST and Associate Dean PG School, ICAR- IARI, graced the valedictory function on November 11, 2019.
