The World Bank- ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP), Center for Advanced Agricultural Science and technology (CAAST) training programme on ‘Genomics of Agriculturally Important Insects’ was organized by Division of Entomology, IARI, New Delhi from September 18 – 28, 2019.
The training programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Joint Director Research, ICAR-IARI at Auditorium, Division of Plant Pathology, IARI, New Delhi on September 18, 2019. Twenty five students from 17 State Agriculture Universities, one Central Agricultural University and one ICAR deemed to be University belonging to 16 states of India attended the training programme.
This training programme was organized to introduce the basics of insect genomics to the Post Graduate students of Entomology. Sessions were organized through lectures, demonstrations and hands on training of the students through cutting edge technology for insect genomics. Field visits were organized to select facilities in IARI such as National Pusa Collection, Division of Entomology, Nanaji Deshmukh Phenomics Centre, Sequencing Facility at NIPB, Computing facilities at IASRI, New Delhi.
